Ngapali Beach once known as the "Naples of the East", is
located on the northern coast in Rakhine State, it is an
unpolluted, unspoiled beach stretching over 3 km with crystal
clear blue sea and clean white sands fringed with green coconut
groves. This unspoiled beach is 45 minutes by flight just
northwest from Yangon.
Ngapali Beach is bordered by Bay of Bengal waterfront, there are
rich sea fish resources including fish, shrimp, corals and sea
mammals. There are no harmful algal blooms, no
poisonous jellyfish (Yedann).
Most of the inhabitants of Ngapali Beach (Thandwe) areas are
fishermen from local fishing communities: bringing daily catches
every morning. The catches included shrimp, lobster, squid,
shellfish, and in fish: snapper, grouper, sea bass, hilsa, horse
mackerel and Spanish mackerel. All the fishes are very fresh
keeping up their original colours offering first class seafood.
Ngapali is undoubtedly one of the best places for a relaxing
holiday and it is highly recommended to those who seek a quieter
getaway. The water here is transparent and the sea is tranquil.
